Tana Water Works Development Agency (TWWDA) marked a significant milestone by participating in the 5th Engineering Partnership Convention and Innovation Fair held at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DEKUT) from 7th to 10th May 2024. The event, themed “Reflections, Response, Resetting,” brought together the engineering fraternity to commemorate 60 years of engineering excellence.

As part of its participation, TWWDA showcased its innovative projects at the innovation fair, demonstrating the agency’s commitment to driving progress in the water sector. Furthermore, TWWDA’s CEO, Eng. Philip Gichuki, led an exclusive CEO’s closed session focused on the “case study of Nyeri Water Services, governance in Engineering services.”

The convention was officially launched by Nyeri Deputy Governor, H.E. Kinaniri Waroe, who emphasized the event’s role in fostering innovation and sustainable development. “This is a unique opportunity to celebrate the ingenuity that will shape the world of tomorrow and ignite new possibilities for a sustainable future,” remarked the Deputy Governor.

The official opening was graced by the presence of the Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport, Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen, who commended Kenyan engineers for their contributions to sustainable and resilient solutions in the face of climate change.

Celebrating six decades of engineering achievements is crucial in acknowledging the remarkable progress made in tackling global issues. From developing flood-resistant infrastructure and renewable energy technologies to advancing transportation and communication networks, engineers have been instrumental in shaping the modern world. These accomplishments highlight the transformative impact of engineering on enhancing quality of life and driving economic growth.
