The Principal Secretary for Water and Sanitation, Julius Korir, recently undertook an inspection tour of critical water and sanitation projects in Nyeri County. The aim of the visit was to assess the progress of these initiatives and their potential impact on the local community.
The first stop was the Kiawara Decentralized Treatment Facility (DTF). Upon completion, this facility is expected to revolutionize sanitation services for approximately 5,000 residents, including students from major learning institutions in Gatarakwa and Mugunda locations. The Kiawara community and its environs will also significantly benefit from this development.
Subsequently, the PS inspected the relocation of the Ihwagi intake works for Mathira Water and Sanitation Company. This strategic move is poised to bolster water supply in Mathira Constituency, with over 20,000 residents in Karatina Town, Ihwagi Location, and surrounding areas set to enjoy improved access to clean water.
Access to clean water and adequate sanitation is fundamental to public health and overall well-being. The government, through the Ministry of Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation, is committed to investing in projects that enhance the lives of Kenyans. These projects in Nyeri County are a testament to this commitment.
