Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary Mr. James Macharia EGH accompanied by Principal Secretary Dr. Eng. Joseph Njoroge CBS, Water Secretary Eng. Sao Alima, TWWDA CEO Eng. Phillip Gichuki and other senior officials on 31ct March, 2022,  carried out an inspection tour of water and sanitation projects in Central Kenya implemented by the Agency.

The team began with Kerugoya Kutus Sewerage Project which will be the first waste water treatment facility in Kirinyaga County. The project is 72% complete and it will benefit 40,000 people in the County.

The team then carried out the inspection of Chogoria Water Supply Project in Tharaka Nithi County. This project is 92% complete and it will benefit 160,000 people in the County.

The team concluded the tour by inspecting Meru Sewerage Project in Meru County. The completion of this project, which includes the construction of a new treatment plant, will lead to de-commissioning of the existing treatment plant located near Gakoromone market in North Imenti and will benefit 193,000 people in the County.

The sewer project is expected to treat 210,500M3 of sewer every day.
